Description

Just east of Valentine, the Cowboy Trail crosses the Niobrara River on a former Chicago & North Western railroad bridge, a quarter-mile long and 148 feet above the river. Built in 1910 and abandoned by the railroad in 1992, it is the tallest bridge in Cherry County and one of the signature views on the trail. Walkers and bicyclists can cross it and look down on the Niobrara National Scenic River.
