Elmer Nebraska
Elmer, Nebraska
Elmer was a post office in the western part of Hayes County, about thirteen miles from Hayes Center.
History
The office was established on 8 December 1887 and discontinued on 8 June 1895. The 1890 Nebraska State Gazetteer gives Elmer a population of thirty. The origin of the name is unknown.
The exact site has been lost. One modern reference lists Elmer among the Hayes County places whose location is not known and raises the possibility that the name was a transcription error, though the gazetteer entry, with its distance and population, argues that the place was real.
