Leigh Nebraska

Leigh is a village in northern Colfax County, Nebraska, settled in 1872 and incorporated in 1887. The town takes its name from Mary Margaret Leigh, the wife of an early postmaster. Leigh has hosted the Colfax County Fair every year since 1922, making the village a longtime hub for county agricultural life. Notable natives include Lieutenant General Carl H. Jark, and biochemist Audrey Stevens Niyogi was born near Leigh. As of the 2020 census, the village had a population of 435.
