Hordville was the last town incorporated in Hamilton County, founded in 1906 when the Union Pacific Railroad authorized a branch line from Stromsburg to Central City. The village takes its name from T. B. Hord, a prominent cattle feeder and grain dealer from Central City who built the Hord Elevator. Hordville was incorporated as a village in 1916, and today is home to one of the oldest farmers' cooperatives in Nebraska.
