Stanton City Hall is the municipal office for Stanton, Nebraska, at 800 11th Street. Stanton is the county seat of Stanton County, population 1,520, part of the Norfolk micropolitan statistical area. Platted 1870; the city and county are named for Edwin M. Stanton, President Lincoln's Secretary of War. The city provides water and sewer service directly, while electricity, natural gas, trash, telephone and internet come from private companies. New water and sewer customers apply at City Hall. The Mayor and City Council meet the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00. Public works has a separate office line and an after-hours number.
