Description

Saint Marys Cemetery stands at 3352 Q Street in south Omaha, beside St Mary's Church at 36th and Q.

The land was bought by the bishop in 1881 and the first Catholic burial was made in 1883. Before that it was known as Cassidy's Burial Ground and was non-sectarian, so the earliest graves here are not Catholic ones. Its management was merged with Holy Sepulchre in 1906.

Around 14,926 memorials have been recorded, which is a record of what has been photographed and indexed rather than a count of everyone buried there.

For burial records or plot enquiries, contact the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Omaha, or the Douglas County Clerk in Omaha. Ownership can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
