Perkins County Public Transit works out of the senior center at 420 Central Avenue in Grant and runs two vehicles, both wheelchair accessible, each seating up to a dozen. The county describes the aim simply: safe, reliable, affordable and efficient transport for its citizens. What sets this one apart from most rural Nebraska services is the notice required. An hour is enough, where elsewhere a full day is the norm, though passengers are warned that a pickup may land within about a quarter of an hour either side of the agreed time. Buses run from nine until four on weekdays, closing on state holidays.
