Loup City City Hall

Loup City City Hall is the municipal office for Loup City, Nebraska, at 134 South 8th Street. Loup City is the county seat of Sherman County, population 1,053, long known as the Polish Capital of Nebraska for its Polish immigrant heritage; Polish Days runs the first weekend of June each year. Platted 1864 and named for the nearby Loup River. Sherman Reservoir, a 2,845-acre lake with camping, fishing and boat access, lies just northeast of town. Other local recreation includes the Bowman Recreation Area's 20-acre lake, a nine-hole par-36 golf course and a municipal swimming pool with water slide. St. Josaphat's Catholic Church holds early-1900s stained glass windows bearing the names of Polish settler families. The area was the setting depicted in the 2014 film The Homesman.
