Hilltop Cemetery stands on the high ground southwest of Hubbard. The county's records give it two other names — the Hubbard Cemetery, and the Epidemic Cemetery — and that second name is what it was: ground used when an epidemic came through. The county lists it as abandoned.
Only a handful of burials have ever been indexed here, and it is not a maintained cemetery. It is listed because a place used to bury the dead of an epidemic should not go unrecorded.
Around five memorials have been recorded, which is a record of what has been photographed and indexed rather than a count of everyone buried there.
For burial records or plot enquiries, contact the Dakota County Clerk in Dakota City. Ownership can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
