Fort Kearny State Recreation Area

Fort Kearny State Recreation Area is near Kearney, in Kearney County, Nebraska, along the Platte River. The 186-acre site is dotted with seven sandpit lakes and offers camping, fishing, no-wake boating, and hiking and biking, and is known for spring sandhill crane viewing; it adjoins the separate Fort Kearny State Historical Park a few miles to the west.
