Farm to Family Cooperative

The Farm to Family Cooperative is the grocery store at Hay Springs, Sheridan County - and it exists because the village lost its only grocery in 2019 and decided not to accept becoming a food desert. Residents formed a steering committee with local business and bank people, sold shares, and opened the store as a community-owned cooperative in 2021. Members hold stock and have a democratic say in how it runs and what it stocks, which is why the shelves reflect what the village actually wants. It carries produce, meat, dairy, frozen and pantry goods, with an emphasis on local supply.
