The Cuming County Historical Society runs a museum complex at the Cuming County Fairgrounds, 300 West Washington Street in West Point, which the Nebraska State Historical Society describes as the largest museum complex in northeast Nebraska. The society was founded in 1968, and the complex began in 1975 when the railroad depot was moved to the site; it opened on July 4, 1976.
Its seven buildings are the depot, a one-room school, a caboose, a country church, a tractor museum with eight restored tractors and a steam engine, a machinery building with a 1924 Model T, and the Big Red Barn. The complex is open free during the county fair from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and by request or appointment, and about 30 volunteers keep it running.
