Center Village Office is the municipal office for Center, Nebraska, and receives mail at PO Box 86, Center, NE 68724. Center is the county seat of Knox County and, with a population of 73, one of the smallest county seats in the United States. The village was platted in 1901 and incorporated in 1904, and is named for its position near the geographic centre of Knox County, having been established expressly to serve as a centrally located county seat. It covers about a tenth of a square mile at the junction of Nebraska Highway 84 and Nebraska Highway 13, whose northern terminus is at Center. The Knox County Courthouse and the county offices are located in the village, making it the administrative hub for the county. Bazile Creek runs along the edge of the community.
