Description

Brewster Village Office is the municipal office for Brewster, Nebraska, at 440 Lincoln Avenue. Brewster is the county seat of Blaine County and, with a population of 12, the least populous incorporated county seat in the United States. It is the only incorporated community in Blaine County; the rest of the county is unincorporated ranch land. The town was laid out in 1884 by homesteader George Washington Brewster and named county seat in 1887 after he offered to build the required county buildings. The name honours William Brewster, a Mayflower passenger and an ancestor of the founder. The village sits in the Nebraska Sandhills along the Middle Loup River, in one of the most sparsely populated regions of the lower forty-eight states.
