Verona is an unincorporated community in Clay County, in south central Nebraska. The name was given in 1884, reportedly for the Veronica family of pioneer settlers, and a post office served the surrounding farms here from 1887 until it was discontinued in 1954.
Verona is not one of the incorporated cities or villages of Clay County, and no separate population is published for it. What remains is a rural spot in heavily farmed country; a 160 acre federal wildlife production area nearby carries the Verona name.
