Cascade Nebraska
Cascade, Nebraska
Cascade is a small populated place in Cherry County, Nebraska, on the north bank of the Middle Loup River in the Loup Election Precinct, deep in the Nebraska Sandhills. Like its neighbors Falter Place, Elsmere, Hartgraves Place, and Piercy Place, Cascade survives today mainly as a named point on USGS maps rather than an active settlement.
The Cascade post office was established April 26, 1899, taking its name from the hamlet's location on the Loup River, a name submitted to postal authorities by local resident J.F. Keller and other area citizens. The office remained open for 56 years, closing in 1955.
