David City Park, on the south side of town along Highway 15, and its Municipal Auditorium have been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2000. Phoebe Miles donated the first 12 acres in 1889, the city bought the park in 1905, and it has grown to more than 85 acres.
Works Progress Administration projects built the pool and bathhouse in 1935 and 1936, the World War I memorial entrance, amphitheater and athletic field in 1940, and the Art Moderne auditorium from 1941 to 1943. The auditorium's lower level holds 375 people and has a kitchen, bar and stage. The city campground and the David City Golf Course are on Park Drive.
