Bronco's at 4540 Leavenworth St. is one of two Omaha locations of the hamburger stand William T. "Bronco Billy" Barnes opened in 1959 at 30th and Fort, described as Omaha's first locally owned fast-food restaurant. His son Steven took over in 1992, and the next generation now runs it.
Bronco's is known for its cowboy theme, neon signs, fresh never-frozen Nebraska beef, fries hand-cut daily from whole potatoes, brined and battered chicken and breaded pork tenderloins. It also serves breakfast, shakes and cones. Open daily 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., with online ordering at broncoburgers.com. The other location is at 1123 S. 120th St.
