The "St. Edward" historical marker (No. 398), at Beaver Street (NE 39) and 4th Street in St. Edward, was erected in 1998 by the St. Edward FCCLA, the community foundation and the Nebraska State Historical Society. It tells how A. T. Coquillard of the St. Edward Land and Immigration Company of South Bend, Indiana, bought land here from the Union Pacific in 1871, how the Beaver post office became Waterville and then St. Edward, named for the Rev. Edward Sorin, founder of the University of Notre Dame, and how the town incorporated in 1884.
