Description

The Carns State Aid Bridge, a multi-span Parker and Pratt through truss built by the Lincoln Construction Company in 1912–13 after ice destroyed a wooden bridge in 1910, carries a county road over the Niobrara at Carns, about 10.8 miles northeast of Bassett. It was listed on the National Register in 1992. The March 2019 flood washed out its south approach and closed it. In March 2025 the state began an 850-foot concrete replacement with new roadway on both sides of the river, with completion expected in July 2026; check for detours.
