Whitney Lake is the reservoir of the Whitney Irrigation District on the White River beside Whitney, about 984 surface acres behind a dam built in the early 1920s. A public boat ramp is about 1½ miles west-northwest of the village. Anglers catch largemouth bass, walleye, crappie, bluegill, white bass, yellow perch, northern pike and channel catfish, and an ice-fishing tournament is held each winter. The water level drops sharply in summer as the lake is drawn down for irrigation. Whitney Lake Inlet WMA adjoins it.
