After running a trading post and blacksmith shop at Robidoux Pass in the 1840s, the Robidoux family moved to winter quarters here in 1851, and Antoine Robidoux lived here until 1853. The Gering Tourism Committee, the City of Gering and the Oregon Trail Community Foundation built the reconstruction in 1993; the Friends of Robidoux Trading Post manage it.
