About Spring Green
Spring Green is a former settlement on Apple Creek in southern Furnas County, about a mile north of the Kansas line and about 9 miles southwest of Beaver City. Spring Green Church and the Spring Green Cemetery remain.
History
A post office named Spring Green opened on May 27, 1873, one of the first in the county. In 1890 the state gazetteer described it as a post office about 14 miles south of Beaver City on Apple Creek, about a mile from the Kansas line, with Jane Wyatt as postmistress. The post office closed on February 28, 1905, as rural free delivery spread, but Spring Green still appears on the 1912 Rand McNally map.
Spring Green Church still stands, and the cemetery a little to the south has burials going back to at least 1885.
