Description

The First Congregational Church in Naponee, organized in 1881, built this eight-sided frame church in 1887, following Orson Squire Fowler's octagon ideas; it is one of only two octagonal religious buildings known in Nebraska. A basement was added in 1924 and the porch and bell turret in 1926. The congregation disbanded in 1973, and the Naponee Historical Society has kept the building as a museum since 1974. It was listed on the National Register in 1982. Call ahead for a visit.
