In 1899 William Stansbury, then 80, put up a brick business building on Main Street in Nelson. Stonemason James T. Donahoo of Edgar carved twelve life-size sandstone faces and two owls on its north wall. The faces include local characters such as One-Eye Riley, Indian Joe, "Kissin' Jack" Adamson and Parson Bob, and famous figures including Admiral Dewey and Theodore Roosevelt; three have never been identified.
