The Brownville Bridge carries US 136 across the Missouri River from Brownville to Atchison County, Missouri. Atchison County built it in 1939 for $700,000 as a toll bridge; it is a 1,903-foot cantilevered Warren through truss with one narrow lane each way and no shoulders, now free and maintained by the Missouri Department of Transportation. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, got a new deck in 2009–10, and was closed for 216 days in 2019 after floods damaged its approaches.
