About Swaburgh

Swaburgh (also spelled Swaburg) was a Swedish farm settlement in Logan Township, in the Logan Creek valley of northeastern Dodge County, about 2 miles southeast of Uehling. The Swaburg Baptist Cemetery is south of Uehling.

History

Swedish families led by Peter Saisper (also written Saspair) settled in Logan Township in the early 1870s, and the settlement was sometimes called Saispair. A post office opened in section 15 in 1872, with Saisper as postmaster, and later moved to section 24.

A Lutheran church was built in section 13 in 1875 and a Free Lutheran church in section 7 in 1882. The post office closed on April 15, 1901, a few years before the Burlington built through the valley and founded Uehling.
