Old Baldy, listed on the National Register of Historic Places as The Tower, is a chalk-topped hill about 7 miles north of Lynch near the Missouri River. Lewis and Clark climbed it on Sept. 7, 1804, and nearby captured a prairie dog, an animal then unknown to science, which was sent east alive. The hill is on private land; it can be viewed from an overlook with an interpretive sign.
