Box Butte Reservoir State Recreation Area

Box Butte Reservoir State Recreation Area is near Hemingford, in Dawes County, Nebraska, on the edge of the Sandhills. The 2,212-acre area surrounds a 1,600-acre reservoir on the Niobrara River and offers camping, boating, fishing for northern pike, walleye, catfish, and bass, and swimming.
