This is the older of two German Settlement burial grounds in the same township north-west of Crookston, and lies in Section 10 of Township 33, Range 30.
The later and larger one — German Settlement Cemetery, also known locally as the Lutheran Cemetery — is south-west of Crookston in Section 28 of the same township and range. The two are separate grounds and are easily conflated, since they share a name and a survey block. The families are the same German settler families in both: Ahrens, Detgen, Dey and Dittmer, with burials here recorded from around 1900.
This cemetery is not indexed on the larger national burial sites, so no memorial count or mapped coordinate is available for it. It is recorded in the Cherry County GenWeb transcriptions.
For burial records or plot enquiries, contact the Village of Crookston, or the Cherry County Clerk in Valentine. Ownership can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
