Saint Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery stands on the north-west edge of Merriman, about half a mile from Merriman Cemetery, the village's public burial ground.
The two are separate cemeteries with separate names and separate records, not two halves of one. This arrangement — a Catholic cemetery beside a public or Protestant one — is common across northern Nebraska, and the pair should be searched separately. Merriman Cemetery also appears in older records under its formal name, Merriman Memorial Cemetery.
Around 67 memorials have been recorded, which is a record of what has been photographed and indexed rather than a count of everyone buried there.
For burial records or plot enquiries, contact the Village of Merriman, or the Cherry County Clerk in Valentine. Ownership can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
