Merriman Cemetery lies on the south-west edge of Merriman, in Section 18 of Township 34, Range 37. Its formal name is Merriman Memorial Cemetery and older records use that; it is one cemetery, not two. It holds the largest number of families of any burial ground in the west of the county.
The village's Catholic cemetery, Saint Elizabeth, stands about half a mile away and is a separate ground with separate records. Search both.
Around 192 memorials have been recorded, which is a record of what has been photographed and indexed rather than a count of everyone buried there.
For burial records or plot inquiries, contact the Village of Merriman, or the Cherry County Clerk in Valentine. Ownership can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
