Bohemian Pioneer Cemetery

Bohemian Pioneer Cemetery lies in the far west of Box Butte County. The county index carries it as Potmesil Cemetery — a Czech surname, which fits the Bohemian settlement it served — and both names are needed for record searches. It is listed under Hemingford, the nearest village, about sixteen miles to the east.

Around 14 memorials have been recorded, which is a record of what has been photographed and indexed rather than a count of everyone buried there.

For burial records or plot inquiries, contact the Box Butte County Clerk in Alliance. Ownership can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
