Katen Cemetery lies well north of Alliance. The way to it is recorded as sixteen miles north on US 385, then seven miles north on a county road and one mile west.
It is also recorded as Running Water Cemetery, and the two are one burial ground — the Running Water transcription is largely of Katen graves, Michael, Johanna and John among them, with burials from 1887. Both names are needed for record searches.
Around 18 memorials have been recorded, which is a record of what has been photographed and indexed rather than a count of everyone buried there.
For burial records or plot enquiries, contact the City of Alliance, or the Box Butte County Clerk in Alliance. Ownership can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
