Taylor Cemetery lies about a mile south of Taylor, reached by heading west on Charles Street until the pavement turns to gravel and the road bends south to end at the cemetery gate.
The burying ground is thought to have been started about 1883 or 1884, with a Mr. Leech as its first caretaker. The west portion of the cemetery is under the jurisdiction of the Catholic church and carries headstones dating before 1886. The oldest stone is that of Clara Jane Campbell, who died 16 November 1882 at the age of six and was moved here from her parents' farm west of Taylor about 1908; the second oldest belongs to Thomas Croughwell, who died 17 April 1883.
Sheriff George Henry Brock, 1897 to 1940, is buried here. On 16 October 1940 he rode out to Valleyview, on the Calamus in the north of the county, to serve an eviction notice, and was murdered there. The chase that followed used an aeroplane. A Nebraska state historical marker at the Valleyview Flat parking area at Calamus Reservoir tells the story of the vanished village and of the sheriff's death.
Around 545 memorials have been recorded, which is a record of what has been photographed and indexed rather than a count of everyone buried there.
