The columbarium at Saint Johns United Lutheran Church in Alliance.
This is a columbarium, not a cemetery — a wall or room of niches holding cremated remains, at a working church in Alliance rather than a burial ground out in the county. Visiting means visiting the church.
Around 10 interments have been recorded, which is a record of what has been documented rather than a count of everyone laid there.
There is a second Lutheran columbarium in Alliance, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, about a mile and a half to the south. The two are separate.
For inquiries about niches or records, contact the church directly, or the Box Butte County Clerk in Alliance. Ownership of burial grounds in Nebraska can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
