Cross County Community Schools is the public school district for Stromsburg and Benedict, in Polk County. The two districts consolidated in 2002 and in 2009 opened a single K-12 building deliberately placed between the towns, three miles south of Stromsburg and five miles north of Benedict at the junction of US 81 and Highway 66. Nebraska school districts are run by an elected board and funded by local property tax and state aid. The district is the place to ask about enrollment, school calendars, activities and board meetings.
