Panhandle Rural Electric Membership Association

Panhandle Rural Electric Membership Association is one of Nebraska’s rural public power districts, run from East Hwy 2 & Brayton Rd. in Alliance in Box Butte County. It supplies farms, acreages and small communities outside the town-owned systems. Nebraska is the only state where every electricity customer is served by a publicly owned utility, so there are no investor-owned power companies here. The district answers to a board elected by its own customers rather than to shareholders. Billing and outage calls go to 308-762-1311. Mail goes to Box #677.
