The Wayne Chicken Show is held in Wayne on the second Saturday in July, with a Friday night kickoff, and 2026 was the 46th. It was founded in 1981 by the Wayne Regional Arts Council, which chose chickens for three stated reasons: their potential as art materials, general familiarity, and the fact that chickens can be considered with humour. Admission is free and it runs on nearly a thousand volunteers. Henoween opens the weekend, and Saturday brings the National Cluck-Off, an egg drop, an egg-eating contest, the chicken scratch money dig, a live chicken flying contest and a cement chicken auction, with fireworks that night.
