Minden City Hall

Minden City Hall is the municipal office for Minden, Nebraska, at 325 North Colorado Avenue. Minden is the county seat of Kearney County, population 3,118. Laid out in 1876 and named for Minden, Germany, reflecting the heavily German settlement of the area. The city operates its own utilities: a four-well municipal water system, sanitary and storm sewer with a wastewater treatment plant, a 4.16 kV electric distribution system supplied by Nebraska Public Power District, and weekly solid waste collection. Minden brands itself Nebraska's Christmas City, and the courthouse square is lit with more than 12,000 bulbs for an annual Christmas pageant. Harold Warp Pioneer Village, a 28-building museum complex on 20 acres holding over 50,000 artifacts, is the town's best-known attraction. Major area employers include Royal Engineered Composites, Minden Public Schools, Kearney County Health Services, Bethany Home and Minden Machine Shop. Nebraska's all-time record high temperature of 118 degrees was recorded at Minden on July 24 1936.
