Ord City Hall is the municipal office for Ord, Nebraska, at 201 South 17th Street. Ord is the county seat of Valley County, population 2,113. Platted 1874 and named in honor of Civil War general Edward O. C. Ord. City departments include utilities, streets, police, volunteer fire, and parks and cemetery. Ord has been widely covered as a model of rural revitalization, with more than 125 million dollars in public and private investment since 2000, over 100 new businesses and roughly 350 jobs, drawing coverage in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and NPR. Served by the Nebraska Central Railroad on the historic Ord Subdivision line established in 1886.
