Hebron City Hall

Hebron City Hall is the municipal office for Hebron, Nebraska, at 216 Lincoln Avenue. Hebron is the county seat of Thayer County, population 1,441, in south-central Nebraska near the Kansas line. Established about 1869 by a colony of Disciples of Christ and named for the ancient city of Hebron. The swing in the city park at 5th and Jefferson Streets is claimed to be the world's largest porch swing, long enough to seat 24 adults. The 1937 Hebron post office, designed by supervising architect Louis A. Simon, is on the National Register. In 2021 the USDA announced a large well site near Hebron to improve water infrastructure serving farmers in Nebraska and Kansas. Notable natives include composer Ken Darby and pollster Elmo Roper.
