McCook City Hall is the municipal office for McCook, Nebraska, at 505 West C Street. McCook is the county seat of Red Willow County, population 7,446, the regional trade center of southwest Nebraska. Platted 1882 when the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad was extended to the site; named for Civil War Brigadier General Alexander McDowell McCook. Operates under a council-manager form of government with a City Manager and an Administration department supporting the City Council. Home of McCook Community College, founded 1926 as Nebraska's first two-year junior college. The Harvey P. Sutton House of 1905-07 is the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house built in Nebraska; the home of US Senator George W. Norris is a state historic site and museum. Served by Amtrak's California Zephyr and by McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
