Kimball City Hall is the municipal office for Kimball, Nebraska, at 223 South Chestnut Street. Kimball is the county seat of Kimball County, population 2,290, at the junction of Interstate 80 and US 71 in the Lodgepole Valley of the Panhandle. Founded about 1870 as Antelopeville, renamed in 1885 for railroad official Thomas Lord Kimball, and incorporated 1888. The city runs municipal electric, water, sewer and wastewater, street, police, landfill and airport operations, with a 24-hour utility outage dispatch line. City-operated amenities include the Four Winds Golf Course, the public library, Gotte Park and City Park, the municipal swimming pool and the city cemetery. Kimball markets itself as the High Point of Nebraska; Panorama Point, the state's highest elevation at 5,424 feet, lies about 33 miles away in Kimball County. The local economy includes oil and gas production and the Kimball Wind Farm. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
