Elwood Village Office

Elwood Village Office is the municipal office for Elwood, Nebraska, at 304 Calvert Avenue. Elwood is the county seat of Gosper County, population 658. Established 1885 when the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad reached the area, and named for homesteader Elwood Thomas. The village provides utility service including water, sewer and trash collection. The Gosper County Courthouse here is an Art Deco building designed by the Kearney firm McClure and Walker and is listed on the National Register. Elwood Reservoir, a state recreation area, lies just north of the village. Elwood Public Schools serves preschool through grade 12; since 2019 its athletics have been co-oped with Eustis-Farnam as the Hi-Line Bulls. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
