Burwell City Hall

Burwell City Hall is the municipal office for Burwell, Nebraska, at 404 Grand Avenue. Burwell is the county seat of Garfield County, population 1,087. Platted 1883, with the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad arriving in 1887. Mayor and council government, with four council members representing two wards on staggered four-year terms. The city operates municipal electric, water, sewer and street departments and issues building permits and inspections through the city office. Staff include an administrator, clerk/treasurer, police chief, utilities superintendent and economic development director. Nebraska's Big Rodeo, held the last weekend of July for more than 80 years, is the town's signature event and a major economic driver.
