Oshkosh City Hall is the municipal office for Oshkosh, Nebraska, at 305 West 1st Street. Oshkosh is the county seat of Garden County, population 809, a role it received in 1909; incorporated 1910. Named after Oshkosh, Wisconsin; the first post office opened 1889 and the railroad arrived 1908. The city provides water and sewer service and operates a trash and recycle center. City-run amenities include the public library, swimming pool, auditorium and ball field, plus an economic development program. Governed by a mayor and five-member council, with planning and zoning jurisdiction extending one mile beyond the corporate limits. Nebraska's record low temperature of 47 below zero was recorded at Oshkosh on December 22 1989. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
