West Point City Hall is the municipal office for West Point, Nebraska, at 444 South Main Street. West Point is the county seat of Cuming County, population 3,504, on the east bank of the Elkhorn River. Founded spring 1857 by the Nebraska Settlement Association of Omaha businessmen. The city owns and operates its electric, water and sewer utilities, with an after-hours utility emergency line; trash is contracted and natural gas comes from Black Hills Energy. Departments include Public Works, Public Safety with police, fire and rescue, Economic Development, Parks and Recreation, the Library, a Senior Center and Mount Hope Cemetery. Community facilities include the Nielsen Center, a community theater, city parks and a municipal swimming pool. The West Point City Auditorium is a listed historic building. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
