Imperial City Hall is the municipal office for Imperial, Nebraska, at 740 Court Street. Imperial is the county seat of Chase County, population 2,068, in the Mountain Time Zone. The first Chase County courthouse, built 1889, still stands on the same site. The city owns and operates its own electric utility plus water and sewer; natural gas comes from Black Hills Energy. Post office established December 14 1885; the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad reached Imperial August 15 1892. Agriculture is the primary economic driver. The city promotes an outdoor skate park it calls one of the best in Nebraska. Office hours are Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time, Thursday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
