Description

St. Michael's Catholic Church, 150 E. Marguerite St. in Spalding, is the parish of the Irish Catholic colony that founded the town. The Gothic Revival church, designed by Omaha architect James Henry Craddock and modeled on a 13th-century Belgian church, was begun in 1909 and dedicated on September 29, 1914. With the 1912–13 academy building, the 1926–27 convent and a 1937 grotto, it forms the St. Michael's Catholic Church Complex, listed on the National Register in 1983. Spalding Academy, the parish school, is at 130 W. Marguerite St.
